WILLIAM D. BILL NELSON, age 79, a resident of Tulsa, Oklahoma, formerly of Irving for almost 60 years, died Sunday, November 25, 2012 in a Tulsa hospital. Born October 19, 1933 in Henryetta, Oklahoma to George W. Nelson and Delia A. Hunter Nelson, he was a U.S. Army veteran. Bill graduated from Henryetta High School and attended Elkins Institute of Technology. He operated his own electronics repair business and later was employed at Vought Aircraft in Dallas. On March 15, 1975, he married Vada Lee Vail in Irving. She preceded him in death on October 26, 2009. Bill was a member of Oak View Baptist Church in Irving. Survivors include his daughter, Deborah Lynds; and son, Jimmy D. Nelson, both of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; three grandchildren; step-children, Nancy Bortecin of Spokane, Washington, L. Wayne Ellis of Mableville, Arkansas, Dana Ellis Knight of Conway, Arkansas and L. Bruce Ellis of Mableville, Arkansas; brother, George Nelson, Jr. of Grand Prairie; sisters, Lou Mathews of Henryetta, Oklahoma, Essie Reed of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Vivian Wade of McAlister, Oklahoma. Graveside service is 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 29, 2012 at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Irving with Dr. Jim Gerlach officiating.
