Virginia Evelyn Withers, age 98, a resident of Irving, Texas, peacefully passed away at home on November 3, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Donald James Withers. She is survived by sons, Donald (Heather) of Ames, Iowa, Alan of Renton, Washington; daughters, Jean (Bela) Lindenfeld of Benton Harbor, Michigan, Mary of Irving; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was born on December 20, 1911 in Adrian, Michigan, the youngest of nine children of George and Esta May McComb. She was a graduate of the University of Michigan and a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. In addition to lovingly raising four children, she was a special education teacher for several years in the Irving Independent School District. The family of Virginia Withers is deeply grateful for the loving care she received from Integra Hospice, which let her remain at home during her final months. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 11, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, 2700 Warren Circle in Irving, officiated by The Rev. Gail N. Gateley. In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted in memoriam for the church.
