Thomas Larry "Tom" Shankles, age 76, of Irving, died Saturday, June 29, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born January 6, 1943 in Idabel, Oklahoma to the late Nelson Troy and Hazel (Whittle) Shankles. Tom was a project manager for Texas Contractors Supply/H.D. Whitecap Supply. He was a member of Plymouth Park Baptist Church and the North Texas High School Rodeo Association. Tom loved his family, his church family, his work family, and his rodeo family. In addition to raising his first three children, helping Joyce raise her four children, he and Joyce adopted three more children. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Cecil, Leonard, Bill, and William; and sisters, Phyllis Setzer and Sue Pollard. Survivors include his wife, Joyce Bridges Shankles; children, Amy and Scott Bolton of Haslet, TX, Scotty Hill of Decatur, TX, Timothy and Victoria Hill of Carrollton, Noel and Christy Christian of Irving, Case, Seth and Kali Shankles of Irving, Debbie Ross of Jacksboro, TX, Lisa Shankles of Decatur, and Mike and LaVerne Shankles of Duncanville; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Linda McGough, and sister-in-law, Betty Shankles. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2019 at Donnelly's Colonial Funeral Home, 606 West Airport Freeway. Rev. Bob Harper and Pastor Jared Cornutt will officiate. Burial was at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Irving July 2, 2019. SERVICES
