Thomas (Tommy) Walker Oates was called home to spend eternity with our Lord on January 14, 2024. Tommy was born on November 2, 1969 to Loretta and Calvin Oates. After graduating from Nimitz High School in 1988, Tommy enlisted in the Navy where he was trained as a Sonar Technician. Upon completing his training he was assigned to the USS Billfish where he became a Sonar Technician Supervisor. During his six years of service in the Navy, Tommy received numerous awards, medals, and Letters of Recommendation. After completing his service to his country, Tommy continued his education at University of Texas at Arlington and University of North Texas earning an Associates Degree in Informational Sciences. Tommy was preceded in death by his father, Calvin Oates. Tommy is survived by his Mother, Loretta Oates, twin brother Timmy Oates and spouse Kristi, brother Kevin Oates, and sister, Lynne Oates. Tommy is also survived by his niece Destiny Morales and spouse River, niece Stacie Milburn and spouse Jessy. Survived by nephews Trevor Oates, Tanner Oates, Cole Cathey, Bradley Payne, and Christian Oates. Survived by great nephew Yamill Marcano. Survived by great nieces Teddy Morales, Loretta Milburn, and Alice Milburn. Memorial services were held on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home of Irving located at 606 West Airport Freeway, Irving, Texas 75062. A committal service for Tommy will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, February 9, 2024 at Dallas Ft. Worth National Cemetery. Tommy loved all animals. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made at a no-kill shelter of your choice. SERVICES
