Thomas Eugene Nelson, 81, a longtime resident of Irving, Texas died Monday, March 15, 2021 in Grapevine. Born November 11, 1939 in Elkhart, Indiana to Harold J. Nelson, Sr. and Irene G. Couch Nelson. He married his Nancy Shirk in November 1958 in Goshen, Indiana. Thomas was a member of the Holy Family of Nazareth Catholic Church in Irving, Irving Elks Lodge and the Knights of Columbus. Thomas was self-employed specializing in customer service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Irene Nelson; siblings, H. J. Nelson, Jr. Walter Nelson, Shirley Brewster, Dorothy Hutchins, and Mary Ann Brockus; his wife, Nancy; and grandson, Marshal Tucker Burns. Thomas is survived by four daughters, Rhonda Nelson and wife Jo Chanslor, Julia Glasscock and husband Brian of Euless, Victoria Guillory of Grand Prairie, Melissa Holbrook of Irving; seven grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 18, 2021 at Donnellys Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, 606 W. Airport Freeway, Irving, Texas 75062. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens, 1413 East Irving Boulevard, Irving, Texas. Father Albert Becher and Ed Salazar will officiate.
