Susan Denise Roberson, 61, a resident of Irving for the past 56 years, peacefully passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family. Born September 20, 1961 in San Antonio, she was the daughter of the late Kathryn Heiney and James Moore. She was raised by her adoptive father Edwin Preece and mother Kathryn Heiney Preece. She married her high school sweetheart Jimmy Roberson on January 9, 1982 in Irving. She was a 1980 graduate of Nimitz High School and a 1981 graduate of Texas College of Medical and Dental Assistants. After working 10 years as a medical assistant, she began her career in education as a paraprofessional for Irving ISD in 2013 until her retirement in 2019. She loved traveling, cruising, and snow skiing with family and friends, and especially loved visiting her family in Colorado and the Carolina's.
Preceded in death by her parents, a brother, James Moore and sister Pamela Moore, she is survived by her husband of 40 years, Jimmy Roberson of Irving; a daughter April Reeves and husband Carl of Irving; grandson, J. J. Reeves of Irving; a daughter Emily Johnson and husband Jason of Irving; two sisters, Linda Heiney of Reno, Nevada and Lisa Glenn of Weaverville, North Carolina; an aunt Hazel Martin and uncle John of Lexington, South Carolina; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews; and many dear friends.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Plymouth Park Baptist Church, 1714 North Story Road in Irving, 75061. The funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the sanctuary at Plymouth Park Baptist Church with burial to follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens, 1413 East Irving Blvd. 75061 under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home of Irving, 606 West Airport Freeway in Irving, 75062. Rev. Ken Branam will officiate.
