Obituary

Stan W. Holtkamp, 62, a resident of Irving since 1984, died unexpectedly Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at his home. Born October 16, 1959 in Keokuk, Lee County, Iowa, he was the son of the late Kenneth Rigobert Holtkamp and Doris Eilene Carter Holtkamp. In high school Stan was a member and served as president of Future Farmers of America. He married Barbara Ann Buchanan September 6, 1980 in Irving. He was raised in the Catholic Church where he served as an altar server. He was an avid rancher and a member of the Texas Cattlemen Association. Stan lived up to the saying, "Strangers are just friends we haven't met, yet,". He gave himself completely into everything he did. He truly believed that if you were in a position to help someone, you should. Without trying, Stan quickly became the focal point of a room and as his best friend said, "There's Stan, holding court." He was a goofball grandpa, dedicated father, fiercely loyal friend, and a deeply devoted husband. He will be missed. Preceded in death by his parents; a sister Rebecca; brother, Scott; and great-nephew Munson, he is survived by his wife Barbara; son, Jacob Holtkamp of Irving; daughter, Rachel Bohn and husband Casey of Euless; grandson, Deckard Garis Bohn; four sisters, Deborah Horton and husband Don, Jr. of Fort Madison, Iowa, Donna Knox of Fort Madison, Iowa, Denise Peacock of New Sharon, Iowa, and Deanna Rankin and husband Richard of Quitman, Texas; and a brother Steve Holtkamp and wife Marlene of Irving. The family will receive friends 6:00 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at Colonial Funeral Home of Irving, 606 West Airport Freeway 75062. The funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 13, 2022 in the funeral home chapel. SERVICES
