Silas Herndon Pop Corley, age 77, a resident of Irving for 48 years, died Monday, September 19, 2011 at an Arlington hospital. Born April 5, 1934 in Sikes, Louisiana, he was the son of Marvin Corley and Lorraine Edwards Corley. A self-employed carpenter, Silas was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barbara Ann Corley; brother, Edward Maurice Corley; and sister, Janice Ranney. Survivors include daughters, Cheryl Corley and Tracy Corley, both of Irving; sons, Steven Corley and wife Lori of Waxahachie, Rodney Corley of Irving and David Corley and wife Reesa of Palmer; grandchildren, Colton, Blake, Ethan, Monica, Jessica and Wayne; great grandchildren, Hannah, Jackson and Bryce; sisters, Ruth Thompson and Jeanette Ford, both of Iowa. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home. Service is 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 23, 2011 at Donnellys Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Gradberg officiating. Interment to follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Irving.
