On Sunday, March 10, 2013, Shanon Layne Walters Kuykendall passed from this earth into the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ. Those who will miss her vibrant smile and compassion for others are husband John and son Damon; Mother Jan Thompson and husband David; sisters Jana Walters, Kelly Walters and Sandy Slinde and husband Jeff; families-in-law, Dorothy Welch, Linda Wise, James Benton and wife Dawn, Jennifer Densen and husband Heath, Ava Kuykendall, Ken Kuykendall and wife Ann, along with numerous other family members. She was preceded in death by her father Michael N. Walters and wife Pat; and grandparents Qua Dean Hughes and wife Dixie Schackel, Heber Walters and wife Carrie. The family wishes to thank all the Doctors, nurses, and staff at UT Southwestern in Dallas for their loving care in the past four years. A special thank you goes to nurses Michelle and Amy with Community Hospice of Texas. Without their tender love our journey would have been far more challenging. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Kids Day Out Ministry at First Baptist Church, 403 S. Main Street in Irving 75060 and/or Community Hospice of Texas, 6100 Western Place, Suite 105 Fort Worth, TX 76107, a non-profit organization. The family will receive friends 6:00 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Donnellys Colonial Funeral Home, 606 W. Airport Freeway in Irving. The funeral will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Irving. Burial will follow at Bear Creek Cemetery in Euless, TX.
