Obituary

Sarah Jane Whaley was born on November 23, 1931, in Emporia, Kansas, and entered her heavenly home surround by loved ones on July 6, 2026.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Florence Perdaris; her beloved husband, Johnny Dale "JD" Whaley; her son, Harry Wayne "Buddy" Andrews; daughter in law Lynn Andrews and her seven siblings, Evelyn, Dora, Hope, James, Peter, Eva, and Marie.

Sarah settled in Irving, TX in 1964 where she met her late husband JD. Sarah was a devoted mother to her three sons: Harry Wayne "Buddy" Andrews and his wife, Evelyn; Tommy Andrews and his wife, Reyne; and Sammy Andrews and his wife, Lynn. She was also the proud "Granny" to her six grandchildren: Amanda and her husband, Richard; Teri; Jennifer and her husband, Tony; Ben and his wife, Amber; Rachel; and Samantha and her husband, Taylor. Her greatest of blessings continued with her 12 great-grandchildren, who gave her the newest and most favored title "GG": Justin and his wife, Jennifer; Ian; Landree; Sophie; Bailey; Brooke; Camille; Lexy; Lacy; Blake; Madeline; and Logan.

It was in Irving that Sarah began her lifelong career with Pearle Vision, where she worked successfully for more than 40 years. During her time there, she touched the lives of countless customers with her bright personality, genuine kindness, and unforgettable smile. One of Sarah's greatest joys was being recognized by customers from her time at Pearle Vision. Even if she couldn't quite remember them, no one would ever know. She would light up with the same warmth and enthusiasm, making every person feel seen, valued, and remembered. Sarah truly never met a stranger.

Sarah began attending Oak View Baptist Church in the early 90s. As her love grew for Jesus her son Sammy Andrews lead her by prayer to accept Christ into heart in the early 2000s. Her church family will fondly remember her as the best-dressed in her Sunday best and faithfully sitting in the same pew every Sunday for nearly 30 years.

Family was the center of Sarah's world. Some of her fondest memories were made around her Sunday night dinner table. No matter how busy or difficult the week had been, or what Monday might bring, her door was always open on Sunday nights. She invited everyone and made sure no one left hungry. While her house was often full, it was her heart that overflowed the most.

Sarah will be deeply missed by her family, friends, church family, and the many people whose lives she brightened over the years. She will always be remembered for her infectious personality, her ability to light up every room she entered, her signature jet-black hair, and of course her lifelong love of Elvis Presley.

A Celebration of Life Services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday July 31st at Oak View Baptist Church in Irving.
