Obituary

Ruth Irene Duron (Gutierrez), a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and Dallas native, went home to be with the Lord on November 28th at 77 years old. The first of seven children born to Saul & Inez Gutierrez, Ruth was born on November 4, 1939. She grew up in downtown Dallas neighborhood of "Little Mexico" and attended Travis MS and Crozier Tech HS. On February 1, 1958, she married Marciano "Rocky" Duron, her husband of 58 years. The couple lived in Irving for more than 50 years and had four sons within a 5 year period, followed by a daughter 12 years later. As a dedicated homemaker, Ruth loved entertaining, traveling and spending time with her family and friends. Her spirited, kind and generous personality endeared her to everyone she met. Though Ruth never drove, she had a knack for finding the best thrift stores and garage sales. Her greatest joy was giving others her zest for life, laughter and fun spirit. She loved to dance, sing and always made people feel cherished and special by giving them a small gift to show her love to them. She is survived by her husband Marciano "Rocky" Duron; her 5 children, Rene, Ronald, Ruben, Marcus and Christina; 6 grandchildren, Shaun, Devon, Sophia, Cole, Addison and William; with Shelley Duron, Billy Hamm and Ken Tewel as other family members; She is also survived by her siblings Priscilla, Raymond, Rocky, Larry and Linda; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. The Duron family mourns the loss of its loving matriarch. The funeral was held on Tuesday at 11am on Dec. 6th at Woodhaven Presbyterian Church at 3650 N. O'Connor in Irving. She is buried at DFW National Cemetery.
