Born to Julia and Foster Hays on June 21, 1924 in Hayden, Alabama, Ruth passed away on May 24, 2011 surrounded by her loving family. A homemaker, famous for her delicious meals, beautiful cross-stitching, generous nature and especially her strong will, Ruth treasured her family above all. A member of North Irving Church of Christ, Ruth was always the first to help those in need. Preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Carl Cole; sons, Douglas and Steve Cole, she is survived by daughters, Mary Kiefer, Linda Carroll and Rhonda Brannan; sons-in-law, Ronald Kiefer, Johnny Carroll and Dick Brannan. Ruth leaves a legacy of 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren. Also survived by 2 sisters, Eunice Bailey and Martha Writesman; dozens of nieces and nephews and numerous friends and caregivers. Rev. Larry Hays, a nephew, will conduct services on Friday, May 27 at 1 pm in the Chapel of Donnellys Colonial Funeral Home in Irving. Visitation: Thursday, 6-8 pm at Donnellys.
