Robert Z.
Ryan
Dec 3, 1935 — Aug 5, 2026
Robert Z. "Bob" Ryan was born on December 3, 1935, in Brownwood, Texas, to Albert Alexander Ryan and Violet Irene Baker Ryan. He passed away peacefully on August 5, 2026, in Irving, Texas.
Bob was preceded in death by his youngest son, William Gregory Ryan; his parents, Albert and Violet Ryan; his sisters, Nellie Elizabeth Ryan Jones, Lillian Hope Rya in n, Bonnie Baker Ryan, Shirley Ann Ryan Durham, and Irene Mae Ryan; and his brothers, Jack Gene Ryan and Albert Ryan Jr.
He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 70 years, Edith Marie Ryan; his son, Michael Zane Ryan; and his three granddaughters, Erica, Jessica, and Victoria.
Bob met Edith while they were both working at a Chevrolet dealership in Abilene, Texas. Their shared life together would become one of love, faith, family, and devoted service.
On October 19, 1957, Bob was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. From that day forward, his love for Jehovah and his desire to serve Him became a defining part of his life. For nearly seven decades, Bob faithfully devoted himself to Jehovah's service. He was especially known for his preaching activity and for his willingness to share his Bible-based hope with others. Over the years, he served in many different assignments and in several congregations, both locally and elsewhere.
Bob's mild, gentle, and approachable personality allowed him to reach people in a kind and personal way. His faith was not simply something he spoke about—it was reflected in the way he treated others, the way he served his congregation, and the way he lived his life. Those who knew him appreciated his humility, kindness, integrity, and genuine love for people.
Bob also built a remarkable career alongside Edith. For more than 45 years, they were respected members of the Dallas–Fort Worth real estate community, building a successful business together and becoming a cherished husband-and-wife team. Bob was admired for his professionalism, honesty, hard work, and commitment to those he served.
Yet, beyond his professional accomplishments, Bob's greatest legacy was the life he dedicated to Jehovah, his love for his family, and the many people he encouraged through his faith and example.
Bob and Edith shared nearly 70 years of marriage, building a life filled with love, faith, family, work, and service to Jehovah. His earthly life has come to an end, but the hope that Bob held so dearly remains strong. His family and friends look forward to the promised resurrection, when they will once again enjoy his gentle spirit, his loving companionship, and the precious privilege of being together with him again.
