ROBERT L. ESCOBEDO, age 84, a resident of Irving for 35 years, formerly of Dallas, died Sunday, June 19, 2011 at Baylor Medical Center at Irving. Born February 4, 1927 in Dallas, he was the son of Antonio Escobedo and Theresa Lujan Escobedo. On September 29, 1972, he married Bettye Russell in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Robert was a member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church and Oak Haven United Methodist Church, both in Irving. Survivors include his wife Bettye; step-son, Eddie Brown and wife Rebecca; step-daughter, Linda Brown, all of Irving; sons, Robert Escobedo of Fort Worth, Alfred Escobedo and wife Sue of Irving, Armando Escobedo and wife Sherry of Dallas, Gilbert Escobedo of Houston and Ruben Escobedo and wife Jan of Fort Worth; daughter, Yolanda Gonzales and husband Leon of Fort Worth; 21 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 21 at Donnellys Colonial Funeral Home. Service will be 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. John Fletcher officiating. Entombment will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Irving.
