ROBERT BOB BACAK, age 83, a resident of Irving for 50 years, died Friday, July 15, 2011, at a local care center. Born February 12, 1928 in Abbott, Texas, he was the son of Joe and Julia Mechel Bacak. A field technician for Western Union for over 25 years, he had served in the United States Army Air Force. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the American Radio Relay League. Preceded in death by his wife Ruthie Bacak and his parents, survivors include sons, Robert Bacak, Jr. and wife Donna, and Roger Bacak of Irving, and Cary Bacak and wife Amy of Garland; 4 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; two sisters, Arlene Slaughter of Brenham, Texas, and Georgia Belville of West, Texas. Memorials may be made to the Disabled Veterans Association. The family will receive friends at Donnellys Colonial Funeral Home 6:00 8:00 p.m. Sunday. Graveside Funeral services with military honors will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 18, 2011 at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. Dr. Jim Gerlach will officiate.
