Our father and friend Bob Autrey passed away on July 11, 2011 bringing to a close a lifetime of love, laughter and thought. Bob is survived by his daughter Angela Autrey of Fort Worth, his daughter Erin Autrey-Samuel and Son-in-law Mat Samuel of Grand Prairie, his son Dustin Autrey of Grand Prairie, his sister Patricia Moe and Brother-in-law Dennis Moe of McQueeny, and his grand children, Sarah Cordell, Caitlin Cordell and Joshua Samuel. He was born in 1948, in Dallas. He graduated from Tascosa High School in Amarillo in 1967. He joined the Navy in 1969 and served as an Ophthalmic Surgical Technician at the NAS Naval Hospital in Corpus Christi. After leaving the Navy, he was a career home builder working in commercial construction consultation and home inspection. Bob shared his expertise as a member of numerous Builder's Associations across the state and was a registered and licensed home inspector. He loved to spend his free time with family, friends and his beloved Lizzy, his Boston Terrier. He was passionate about many subjects; music, history, politics, and of course The Beatles. He would often, to the delight of his daughter Angela, reminisce of hearing them for the first time on the radio and how The Beatles changed his life and the world. An avid movie critic he was always eager to have company to re-watch a classic or to introduce a new film for discussion. As an outdoorsman he enjoyed fly fishing and sailing. Other interests include gourmet cooking, photography and especially gadgets or new technology. He was political junkie, and was at the peak of his addiction during the Obama campaign. Dustin was often his soundboard while they watched cable news shows and political documentaries together. He was an open vault of knowledge to his family for every subject from construction to cooking, but especially regarding Apple computers. He was a die-hard supporter of Macintosh from the early days of home computers, and to him, nothing else existed. As a result, everyone in the family has a Mac and now, without our Mac Master, we are all lost. He was a gentle person who really did believe All You Need Is Love. "Sounds of laughter shades of life are ringing through my open ears exciting and inviting me Limitless undying love which shines around me like a million suns It calls me on and on across the universe" Across The Universe - The Beatles, Let It Be. The service will be held grave side on Saturday, August 6th, 10:00 am at Oak Hills Cemetery in Flatonia, TX In lieu of flowers, we ask that you consider donating to The Salvation Army, which was a charity that Bob was very impressed with after the hurricane Katrina disaster.
