REV. J.C. MITCHELL, age 82, a resident of Irving for 49 years, died Wednesday, May 8, 2013 in a Dallas hospital, surrounded by family and friends. He was ushered into eternity by his Savior and loved ones who have gone before. Born August 16, 1930 in Commerce, Texas to Henderson D. Mitchell and Lela Thompson Mitchell, he married Audrey Jean Cox on October 8, 1955 in Fort Worth. Rev. Mitchell was a member of More 2 Life Church in Las Colinas. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Freddie and Harvey Mitchell; and sisters, Ollie, Marie, Donnie, Evelyn and Birtha. Survivors include his wife, Audrey of Irving; children, Deloris Sacy and husband Richard of Grand Prairie, Birtha Burns and husband James of San Angelo, Terry Mitchell and wife Donna of Cartersville, Georgia, Melody Fowler and husband Kenneth of Cleburne, Ricky Mitchell of Celina, and Johnny Mitchell and wife Laurie of Fort Worth; 17 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and brother, Gerald Dean Mitchell. Visitation will be 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., Sunday at Donnellys Colonial Funeral Home, 606 West Airport Freeway in Irving. Service is 3:00 p.m., Monday, May 13 in the funeral home chapel. Burial with military honors will be at 11:15 a.m., Tuesday, May 14 at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Lane B.
