Memorial services for Ken Banks, age 77 of Irving, Texas are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 12, 2010 at Donnelly's Colonial Funeral Home, Irving. Mr. Banks passed away Thursday, June 10, 2010 in Tyler. He was born January 7, 1933 in Little Elm, TX to Virginia and Raymond Banks. Mr. Banks attended North Texas University on a basketball scholarship and was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. After graduation, he joined the Navy and had an outstanding career as a carrier pilot, completing his service as a Lieutenant Commander. After an honorable discharge, he began a long career as a pilot for Central Airlines and Frontier Airlines, later retiring from Continental Airlines. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty Savage Banks, his two sons, Rory Ken and Barry Dale, and his sister, Rae Adams. Survivors include his brother, Larry Banks of Dallas; sister and brother-in-law, Linda & Tom Carey of Hideaway; brother-in-law, Edde Adams of Tyler ,brother-in-law, Bob Savage of El Paso; sister-in-law, Ruby Savage of Duncanville; and many nieces and nephews.
