Obituary

Ray Roddy (Beep), age 76, witnessed the great mystery and moved home to Heaven on Tuesday, the 10 of February 2015. Ray was a resident of Irving, Texas for 63 years. Born on April 4, 1938 to Nuel Roddy and Mammie Tom Davis Roddy in Honey Grove, Texas; he married Wanda Joyce Rose on April 3, 1965 in Irving, Texas. Ray was employed with the U.S. Postal Service for 12 years, and was Vice President of Southwest Bank in Irving, where he could be recognized by his laughter within seconds. Ray was a MASTER of the ROYAL SECRET of the 32 Degree of the ANCIENT and ACCEPTED SCOTTISH RITE, residing in Irving Texas; he was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 35 years. Beep was truly a one-of-a-kind, genuine man, known among those closest to him for his quick wit and tender heartedness; he was a genius in his own right, mechanically inclined, and a solution-finder, whose overwhelmingly good nature steered his love for fun; the real salt of the earth. Preceded in death by his parents, survivors include his wife, Wanda; daughters, Rhonda Taylor and husband Richard of Pearland, Texas, and Tracy Brightwell of Whitney, Texas; grandchildren, Zachariah Davis of Austin, Chezleigh Randles of Fort Worth, Polly Story Shupe and husband Corey of League City, Alexis Brightwell of Whitney and Trynton Brightwell of San Antonio; great granddaughters, Paityn Whittington, Sierra Randles, Lola Belle Shupe, and Natalie Tenorio. Ray is also survived by his sisters Corrinne Wolfe and husband Hollis, and Debra Roddy Guye and husband Theo; brother Mike Mulkey, and several nieces and nephews. For those blessed to know and love Ray, visitation is 6:00 8:00 p.m. Monday at Donnellys Colonial Funeral Home, 606 West Airport Freeway in Irving. The celebration of his life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Irving with a Masonic Ceremony followed with words from his Masonic brothers. Rays niece, Lecia Seals will provide music. In his honor, and as a tribute to the joy he brought to this world, attire will be as bright as his heart and as colorful as his good humor. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heritage Church, 1501 South Briery, Irving, Texas 75060 or the Hurst Masonic Lodge #1387. And so it has come to pass, a Brother Master Mason having completed all the design's laid down on the Trestleboard of Life, has answered the summons of the Grand Warden of Heaven and Earth and has entered into the Grand Lodge over which the Supreme Grand Master of the Universe presides.
