Obituary

Rachel Enriquez-Smith, 69 Rachel (aka Raquel, to some) went to be with the Lord on September 6, 2021. Rachel Enriquez-Smith was born on May 4, 1952, in Cuba where her parents were serving as missionaries. She was the first-born of the late Josephine and Anthony Enriquez. Rachel graduated from Irving High School in 1970. Following high school, she was employed by Parkland Hospital for 24 years. She excelled in her career at Parkland and was able to let her light shine the brightest as a Patient Advocate at the Amelia Court Clinic serving patients and family members of the Hispanic HIV community. They revered her as an angel as she selflessly dedicated her time, energy and personal resources to garner sponsorship for an annual Christmas party to include dinner and gifts for all. Rachel is survived by her son, Dustin Smith; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Smith; a sister, Rebecca Enriquez and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Ortiz; a brother, Eldred Enriquez; a nephew, Quincy Enriquez; 2 grandchildren, Merrick and Dalton Smith; 2 great-nieces, Alexis and Sierra Enriquez and several cousins. She was predeceased by a brother, Ruben Anthony (Tony) Enriquez, a sister, Ruth Enriquez and a beloved canine companion, Pudge. The relatives and friends of Rachel are invited to attend a Celebration of Life service at Donnellys Colonial Funeral Home on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at 4:00 p.m., 606 West Airport Freeway, Irving, Texas 75062. Visitation will be preceding the service between 2:00 4:00 p.m. The service will be live-streamed. A link will be posted here, twenty minutes prior to the service time. If desired, gifts can be made to Parkland Foundation to support Parklands HIV services in memory of Rachel Smith.
