R. L. "Buddy" Franks, Jr. 87, of Justin, TX, passed away, surrounded by his family, Thursday, March 24, 2022, at Baylor Scott White Hospital in Grapevine TX. Buddy was the son of the late Raleigh L. Franks, Sr and Izetta Wilson Franks. He was born January 21, 1935 in Birmingham, AL. Buddy served in the Navy during the 1950s. After which, he moved to Irving, where he met and married Alta. Together, they had six children. Buddy was a life-long member of Memorial Baptist Church, in Irving, Texas. During the time they lived in Irving, he coached soccer, softball and was a referee with the Irving Soccer Association. During mid 1970s, he moved his family to Aubrey, Texas where he continued to work and be a member of the Texas Pipe Trade, Local Union #68. He instilled a sense of Faith, family, honesty, and work ethic in all of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, his wife Alta Franks and his son Joshua Lee Franks. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Renee (Javi) Rosales, Shannon (Richard) Eades, Carrie Fink, Sarah (Sterling) Baland and Jay (Wennie) Franks, his grandchildren Jeff (Rebecca) Lassiter, Tiffany (Ben) Edwards, Courtney (Gerardo) Esponda, Tyler (Nai) Eller, Alex (Tiffany) Franks, Nathan Franks, Ethan Franks, Jessica Eades, Jacob Eades, Whittney Fink, Bryan Baland and Connor Baland; Great Grandchildren, Claudia, Brady, Lawson, Natalie, Bethany, Benjamin, Jaylen, Julian, Riley, Auria, Bailee, Gwen, Luke, Emma and Korra. Buddys family will receive friends 6:00 8:00 p.m. on March 31, 2022 at Colonial Funeral Home of Irving, 606 West Airport Freeway, 75062. The funeral will be at 12 noon on April 1, 2022 in the funeral home chapel. Buddy's burial will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, April 15, 2022 at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery. Pastor Ron Eley will officiate.
