The story of Jesus first-string andarguablymost beloved disciple returns multiple times to Peters favorite place: a fishing boat. Actually, many of Peters recorded interactions with Jesus take place in a boat or at a dining table. So, too, did Papas. Whether calculating probabilities to mercilessly beat all of us at cards, or stealthily sharing Christmas ham with the dog, Papa cast his net wide: fishing for friends, family, and community to show Gods "boat-load" of love and grace. Paul was born on Dec. 26, 1943, to Sylvia Orville and Mertie Alice Billingsley (of Grand Chain, IL) in Cairo, Ill. He met his future bride, Jackie Vowels, in Charleston. Mo. local schools, where he played baseball and football (secretly), sang with the Glee Club and Mixed Choir, and ran Student Government as the Senior Class president. And, as they say, everything else is fish-tory.
On Saturday, March 19, 2022, nearly a year after catching a record-breaking Largemouth Bass weighing in at over ten pounds, Paul Duane Billingsley held Jesus hand and walked on water to his Heavenly home. He is survived by his wife, Jackie; daughters, Laurie Elmore and Charie Sarosy; grand-fish Steven Taylor Sarosy, Hayleigh Elmore, Paul Ryan Sarosy, Logan Elmome, and grand-fish-by-choice Suzy Corder; great-grand-guppies Emmett and Elliett; adopted grand-fish-in-law Alyssa Sarosy, Fatima Sarosy, and Conrad Staton; and a stocky, but very spoiled Blue Heeler, Pepper. Paul precedes in death his older sister Sylvia Ann Bise and family, as well as his younger sister, Diane Moseley, her husband Lee, and their family. A visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. at North Irving Baptist Church in Irving, TX, followed by a funeral service starting at 2 p.m. Oak Grove Memorial Gardens of Irving, TX, will hold a 3 p.m. Committal Service following the funeral. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to one of the following organizations in Pauls memory: the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas, the Michael J. Fox Foundation, or the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
For everything, there is a season and a time for every purpose under Heaven:
A time to catch,
And a time to release.
