Funeral services for Patsy A. Schafer, 88, will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, July 1, 2023, at the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel of Irving. Visitation will follow her service. The burial will be at the DFW National Cemetery at a later date. Patsy Ann Chace Schafer was born in Dallas, Texas, on September 26,1934, to Thomas Dunlap Chace and Helen Leona Smith Chace. She passed away on June 27, 2023, at the age of 88. After high school, Patsys first job was as Executive Secretary for Atlantic Oil in Dallas. Patsy met Ed Schafer at their home church, North Temple Baptist in Dallas, and married there in 1954. They bought a home in Irving and joined Plymouth Park Baptist Church. They were both very active in the church. Patsy also taught piano for 20 years, was active in Bible Study Fellowship for 14 years, and taught a weekly Bible study at the Senior Citizen Apartments in Irving for five years. Their son, Eddie, has served as pastor for 33 years in several churches in Texas. Patsy is preceded in death by her parents, Dunnie and Helen Chace, sisters Betty Howard and Helen Wilkie, husband Ed Schafer of 56 years, son Stevie Schafer, granddaughter Stephanie Schafer, and grandson Michael Schafer. She is survived by her son Eddie Schafer and wife Rochelle, grandson Steven Schafer and wife Linsey, grandson Nathan Schafer, and several nieces and nephews.
