Patrick Alan Dixon, 62, formerly of Portsmouth, Virginia, died unexpectedly Wednesday, September 29, 2021 in Irving. Born July 2, 1959 in Amarillo, Texas, he is the youngest son of the late Jane McEver Dixon and Gerald E. Dixon, Sr. A graduate of Texas A & M University, he served in the United States Air Force and was a highly decorated Senior Meteorologist/Ship Routing Officer at Naval Maritime Forecast Center in Norfolk, Virginia for 31 years, before retiring in August 2021. He recently moved back to his hometown of Irving to care for his mother. He touched many people during his life through his work and activities, that included being an extraordinary dad, exemplary officer, great friend, fun soccer coach, wonderful little brother, and role model to many. As one friend said, he was "a true gem of a friend". Survivors include his children, Roseann Ella Whear, Asia Michelle Harding, Jerry Linn Harding, Cindy Jane Dixon, and Camille Alana Dixon; elder brother Thomas Dixon and wife Linda; two sisters, Cynthia Ann Dixon and husband Marco Bucklen, and Jane E. Dixon and husband Jim Everett; and seven grandchildren. The family will receive friends 10:00 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 8, 2021 at Colonial Funeral Home, 606 West Airport Freeway in Irving, Texas 75062. The funeral will be 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. For his Texas family, his remains will be inurned with his eldest brother, father and mother on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Calvary Hill Cemetery, 3235 Lombard Lane, Dallas, Texas 75220. For his Virginia family, he will also be buried as an Air Force Veteran at the Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, Virginia. This service and a celebration of his life will be scheduled later in the year.
