Our dear Patricia Lou Jones, age 92, passed sweetly into the presence of Jesus in the early hours of the morning on April 3, 2024. Her beloved Jack called her Patty, friends knew her as Pat or Patty, while her many Grandkids called her Patty-Cake to her overwhelming joy. Four of us were blessed to call her Mom and we are forever grateful to Jesus for our sweet Mom.
Patty was born in Littleton, Colorado on September 18, 1931 to Morton Sherman & Jessie Richardson Sherman, and grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma where in third grade she met little Mary Lynn Gardner who would become Pattys life-long best friend and confidante in life. One day Pattys older brother Jerry, whom she adored, introduced her to his best friend, Jack Jones, about whom Patty told us she was not initially impressed. Patty graduated from Tulsa Central High School and went about life while Jack was inescapably smitten and pursued Pattys affection relentlessly while serving in the US Army and Navy. Finally upon Jacks return from Korea, Patty and Jack were wed in December 1955 and began a life and family together that they entrusted humbly to Jesus and His faithful love.
After a brief time in Houston, the family moved to Irving where Patty doted over her son Jerry Lynn, daughters Cande & Cheryl, and son Paul. With a gift for accounting, Patty enjoyed her career working for some of the finest Doctors and Dentists in the area and was treasured for her character and excellence. When she was not working, she was serving her family and others. Patty loved to serve and showed her love through her God-given gift of hospitality. As a young couple Jack and Patty joined others from Plymouth Park Baptist Church to plant Woodridge Baptist in north Irving, and it was during this time they drove the whole family to Saltillo, Mexico to deliver supplies to missionaries in need of assistance.
Patty and Jack loved the spiritual life they experienced at Plymouth Park Baptist, Calvary Temple and more recently at Gateway Church in Southlake. Patty was most alive when she was caring for her family and her dear friends, always putting the needs or happiness of others before her own. She loved her family and loved Jesus and others so well!
Patty was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Jack Eugene Jones; son Jerry Lynn Jones; brother Jerry Sherman.
Patty is survived by daughters Cande Samples of Irving; Cheryl Rutherford and husband Aldon of Grapevine; son Paul Jones of Keller.
Grandchildren, Jennifer Duwe, Matthew Samples, Paul Samples, Jacob Dunaway, and Hannah Rutherford.
Great Grandchildren, Ryan Dearden, Jack Dearden, Brady Samples, Ellie Samples, Evelyn Samples, Silas Samples, Otto Samples, Romeo Samples, and Sofie Samples.
