It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Charles "Michael" Holder, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend. Michael departed this world on December 27, 2023.
Michael was, the middle child of Mary Gerine and Charles Earl Holder, born in Little Rock, Arkansas on March 19, 1949 and grew up on Chapman Ranch in Corpus Christi, Texas where he graduated from Carroll High School and went on to attend Del Mar College. He enlisted in the Army at age 19. He served from 1968-1969 in Vietnam War where he received honors and medals including, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Vietnam Service Medal w/2 Bronze Service Stars and Bronze Star Medal. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he began his 40+ career in Sales Management and retired from EDS industries in 2008.
He married Mary Lou in 1987. They called many Texas towns home, the most recent being Lewisville, Tx. He was a proud father to his children Ashlee, Jonna and Steven as well as a doting grandfather to his 8 grandchildren and his 5 great grandchildren. Michael was also a brother to two sisters, Margaret Hunt and Deborah Holder.
Michael wore many titles: Husband, Son, Father, Brother, Peepaw and Lover of all animals, especially his beloved cat, Sunny. His most prized title was Peepaw where he loved making memories with his grandkids by attending sporting events, school events, Scout camping trips and celebrating each and every milestone by taking and sharing all the pictures of cherished times.
Michael enjoyed many hobbies including fishing, boating, hunting, camping, cooking, listening to music, watching war movies and traveling. In his later years, he loved road trips in his beloved truck while listening to old rock-n-roll and country music with Mary Lou by his side.
Michael showed bravery his whole life but it was most evident in his last year as he battled Parkinsons Disease and chronic pain.
Although Michael had a private relationship with God he never failed to openly question why He spared his life during such tragedy he faced during the Vietnam War.
Michael lived his life in full color and is an inspiration to all of his family and friends. In his memory please consider donations to American Society for the Prevention of the Cruelty to Animals www.ASPCA.ORG or Parkinsons Foundation www.parkinson.org.
