Obituary

On Sunday, October 24, 2021, Michael Dewayne Colvin unexpectedly passed away with his family at his side from surgical complications. Mike was 62 years old. Born in Shreveport, Louisiana on October 7, 1959, he moved to the Irving,Texas area as a child and graduated from MacArthur High School in 1977 and later, from DeVry University with honors. Mike enjoyed sports, especially football whether it was receiving recognition for playing in high school, following the Cowboys, or coaching his childrens t-ball and soccer teams. He worked most of his life for ADP, now called CDK, as a computer support specialist, starting out in batch processing to update inventories for automotive and truck dealerships then working his way through the ranks to Tier 3 National Support, earning a reputation for solving the problems that stumped others while providing the best possible service for the customers needs. Mike was a well respected team member known for his dependability, hard work and unique sense of humor. Never meeting strangers and quick with a joke, Mike was always a kind-hearted man. One of his greatest pleasures in life was sharing the joy of the Christmas season with the young and young-at-heart. He looked forward to Meadow Creek Elementarys Breakfast with Santa, visiting retirement homes or family gatherings as well as sharing joy with his favorite mechanics and car wash employees. Many of you have your own special stories of Mike and the family would really enjoy reminiscing with you in this online guest book or on his Facebook page. Family life was always at the center of Mikes heart. He and Ronnie delighted in raising two wonderful children and several furbabies. He was a great Dad, sharing the special as well as mundane details of his son and daughters achievements whether it was selling the most cookies or popcorn, winning regional wing-eating contests, stellar report cards, live performances or personal victories. He was so proud of the good people they grew up to be always encouraging them to be brave enough to live the lives they imagined. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, David and Carrie Lee (McMahen) Colvin, grandmother Lena (Love) McMahen. He is survived by his son, Geoff, his daughter, Chelsea, and brother Mark Colvin, and extended family members. A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2021, from 4-6 pm at Donnellys Funeral Home, 606 West Airport Freeway, Irving, TX 75062.
