Melvin Roosevelt Kenner Jr., age 73, of Irving, passed on Thursday, September 30, 2010 at his home. He was born on May 30, 1937 to the late Melvin L., Sr. and Izola Davenport Kenner in White Stone, Virginia. Melvin received his education in the public schools of Lancaster County. At an early age, he joined the Mount Vernon Baptist Church in White Stone, Virginia. Melvin loved to sing and play the guitar. Melvin worked several jobs in Lancaster County before enlisting in the United States Army. Melvin worked for American Airlines for 30 plus years in New York, Tennessee and Dallas, Texas. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Marian Davenport and Helen Henderson. He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife Marva Kenner; four sons, Maurice Kenner (Chantay), William Kenner, both of Louisiana, Gregory Bowler of Australia, Tracey Bowler (Lisa) of Baltimore, MD; two daughters, Stacy Windrow (Vincent) of Smyrna, TN, LaChunda Reed (Willie) of Irving, TX; thirteen grandchildren; three sisters, Betty K. Baker (Robert), Elsie Ball, of Kilmarnock, VA, Elzenia Williams of Baltimore, VA; two brothers, Robert Kenner of White Stone, VA, Rudolph Kenner (Gloria) of Baltimore, MD., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A viewing will be held from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m., Friday at Donnelly's Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral service 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 9, 2010 in the funeral home chapel.
