Matthew "Alex" Aikin, 61, a life-long resident of Irving, died Saturday, December 28, 2019 in a Cedar Hill care center. Born October 3, 1958 in Dallas, he was the son of the late Harold G. Aikin and Claudette Moore Aikin. He was a 1977 graduate of Nimitz High School. He worked in construction and was Baptist. Preceded in death by a brother Walter Murray Aikin in 1974, his father in 2012, and his mother in 2018, he is survived by one sister, Marlene Scholari and husband Joseph of Mansfield; two nieces Jennifer Simmons of Grand Prairie and Courtney Scholari of Carrollton; a nephew, Jason Simmons and wife Wubalem of Irving; great nephew Julian Dunson of Houston; great nieces, Jada Montgomery and Ella Marie Rowe; an aunt Janice Smith of Henderson; and several cousins. The family will receive friends 1:00 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 3, 2020 at Donnellys Colonial Funeral Home, 606 West Airport Freeway. The funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Entombment will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Irving. SERVICES
