Matt Honeycutt, age 48, passed away November 30, 2021. A celebration of his life was held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, December 4, 2021 in the chapel at Colonial Funeral Home of Irving, 606 West Airport Freeway 75062. Born to musically inclined parents, Micki Montcalm and Jimmy Hunnicutt, Matt inherited the ability to follow suit. Being around his parents and fellow siblings, Robert, John, Amy, Holly, Brittany, Savannah, and Jazzlyn, Matt molded himself into a great guitar player pretty quickly. Matt loved his family and his friends and he wore a contagious smile that was hard to resist. His influence on others resonated throughout the studio on any given day. Whenever Matt showed up to the studio, everybody else around knew they had better be bringing something to the table because he's ready to play. From walking the streets of Deep Ellum with Matt, one could see how far his influential talent had spread. Although Matt wasn't signed to one of the bigger companies, he didn't need the Hollywood type of rock-'n-roll fame to feel successful or be content in life. This simpler way of looking at things allowed Matt to do just what he loved without any reservation. Others, whether admitted or not, were all touched by Matt in some form or way. Others seem to play better when he was around, or possibly it was the competitive nature of his musical outlook that demanded others play well. He was an inspiration whether he knew it or not. He will be truly missed. Survived by his Rose, Matt will always be in our hearts as truly a loving and caring man that had a kind gentle spirit which flowed out into the world much like the music does on the airwaves.
