MARLA KAYE FOX COFFMAN, age 64, was a resident of Lewisville, Texas. Services are scheduled for 7:00 p.m., Monday, September 26, 2011 for Marla Kaye Coffman who died Wednesday, September 21, 2011 after a prolonged illness. The Reverend Joe Bailey is scheduled to officiate at Donnellys Colonial Funeral Home Chapel in Irving. Marla was a long time employee of the City of Irving working with the Irving Police Departments SWAT team up until the time of retirement in 2006. Until illness prevented it, she had continued to participate in numerous police sponsored events and enjoy the many friends and ex-coworkers she met as a City of Irving career employee. Marla was born on February 6, 1947 at Deconess Hospital in Lincoln, Illinois to Viola Ferne Fox and Lawrence Edward Fox of Waynesville, Illinois. She and her husband, Allen, came to Irving in 1973 and had lived locally since then. She maintained contact with family as well as high school and college classmates throughout her life. She was often the mistress of ceremonies at her high school reunion due to her reputation as one with a great sense of humor and quick wit. Marla is survived by her husband, Allen Coffman of Lewisville; her son, Chris Coffman of Plano; step-children, Mark Coffman of Corsicana and Debra Coffman of Grand Prairie; and brother, Michael Fox of Denton. She will be sadly missed by friends and family.
