Born in Fort Worth, Texas, on November 16, 1945, to Clarence and Lavina Sisson, Marilyn graduated from Arlington Heights High School in 1963 before attending Tyler Junior College and El Centro College. Her love of learning eventually led her to earn an Associate's Degree in Paralegal Studies later in life, reflecting her belief that it is never too late to continue learning.

Marilyn enjoyed the quiet rhythms of everyday life. She loved to read, found satisfaction in quilting, and was a lifelong cook who took pride in preparing healthy meals. Her faith was an important part of her life, and for many years she participated in Bible Study Fellowship.
Marilyn was proud of her daughters and her grandchildren. She treasured family gatherings and found particular joy in watching her grandchildren grow into the people they are becoming.
In her later years, Marilyn faced a long illness with quiet determination. She met each day with resilience, remaining focused on her family and the life they shared together.
