Maria Jorge Zapata, a resident of Irving for 22 years, died on Friday, June 9, 2017 at the age of 87. She was born April 16, 1930 in Cloete, Coahuila, Mexico to Esteban Gonzalez and Gerarda Mata. She married Lazaro Zapata, Sr. on June 9, 1948 in Mexico. Preceded in death by a son, Esteban, survivors include her husband of Irving; her children Sergio Zapata, Maria Del Socorro Gonzalez and Angela Zapata all of Irving, Bertha Garcia of Chicago, and Lazara Zapata, Jr. of Dallas; brother, Fernando Gonzalez and sister Estefana Gonzalez, both of Dallas; fifteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. Visitation and viewing will be from 6:00 9:00 p.m. Monday, June 12, 2017 at Donnellys Colonial Funeral Home with a Rosary to be said at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at St. Lukes Catholic Church, 204 South MacArthur Blvd. in Irving. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens, 1413 East Irving Blvd. SERVICES
