Maria Isabel DeVega passed away at 9 pm on April 21, 2012 peacefully at her home in Irving, Texas surrounded by her family as she wanted. She was 92 years young and was full of spirit to the end. Maria "Mama" was born on May 4, 1919 in Leon, Nicaragua and was the daughter of Concepcion Martinez and Antonio Hermida. She married Carlos A. De Vega on December 8, 1940 and they were married for 59 years. Maria was known for her love of roses, music, beautiful singing voice, great sense of humor and loved practical jokes. She was a devout Catholic and prayed daily for her family. She will be missed and always remembered. Survivors include her three children, Bayardo A. DeVega (wife Suellen), Charles J. DeVega (wife Shannon), and Maria A. Floyd (husband Mark); eight grand children, Suellen Anderson (husband Steven), Georgia McCullough, Theresa DeVega, Lynette Miller, Meagan Miller, Caitlin DeVega, Charles DeVega II, and Madeline DeVega; and three great grand children Olivia and Isabelle McCullough and Lauren Anderson. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at St. Luke's Catholic Church, 204 South MacArthur Blvd. in Irving under the direction of Donnellys Colonial Funeral Home, 606 W. Airport Freeway, Irving, TX.
