Margaret Ann Young Thacker, 88, a resident of Irving since 1956, owner of Adventure Discovery Center, died Sunday, February 13, 2022 at Faith Presbyterian Hospice Inpatient T. Boone Pickens Center in Dallas. Born July 3, 1933 in Gregory, Arkansas, she was the daughter of the late L. M. Young and Verbal Ruth White Young. She grew up in Searcy, Arkansas, graduated from Central High School in Judsonia, Arkansas, and married Howard Thacker in 1956. She was a member of Oak View Baptist Church in Irving. Preceded in death by her parents, a brother L. V. Young, her husband Howard in 1976, and by a nephew, Jeff Young, February 7, 2022. She is survived by her children Julia Thacker of Irving, Rebecca Thacker of Irving, Mary Blakely and husband Don of Montevallo, Alabama, and Tommy Thacker; a devoted daughter-in-law, Laura Thacker; brothers, Jim Young and wife Nancy, Robert Young and wife Teresa; sisters, Eleanor Chesshir, Frances King, Judy Self, and Anita Hunsinger and husband Earlex; four grandchildren, Davinia Clifton and husband Rob, Beau Hutchins, Nicole Torres and husband Jerry, and Thomas Thacker; 5 great grandchildren, Heather Wallace, Avery Turner, Ember Torres, Kordelia Torres, and Benicio Torres; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at Colonial Funeral Home of Irving, 606 West Airport Freeway, 75062. The funeral will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 17, 2022 at the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens, 1413 East Irving Blvd. 75061.
