Obituary

Lucretia Anne Herriage passed peacefully at her home in Irving on August 26, 2023. Anne was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on October 5, 1932. She was the fourth child of five children born to Roy Banister and Dorris Elsie Quinsey. She attended Central High School. In 1965 the family moved to Irving, Texas. Anne was Irvings first woman mail carrier in 1968. She also worked as a window clerk at all the post offices until retiring in 1994. Her customers became her friends. Anne met and married the love of her life Don Herriage on May 18, 1985. They loved their life together and after retiring traveled to forty-eight states in their RV. Her family was very important and she hosted many dinners and Christmas in her home. Helping others in need was one of her special qualities throughout life. After raising three children of her own she raised her granddaughter Michelle and niece Tonya. Anne had a tender heart and knew growing up what it meant to be poor and showed compassion to people who were less fortunate. Spreading the gospel of Christ was her passion and she went on a mission trip to Australia. Anne supported missionaries monetarily for many years. Anne was a member of the Belt Line Church of Christ. She loved her church family dearly. Loving her grandchildren and great grandchildren was easy for Anne because they were all the light of her life. One of her greatest joys was to spend as much time as she could with them. Through the many trials of life that Anne faced, she always said "God has a plan for me" and walked by faith. She will be greatly missed. She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Roy Irving Banister, Cloman Earl Banister, Sue Belle Baker and Hazel June Segler. Anne is survived by her husband Don Herriage; children Gordon Scruggs and wife Pam, Patti Necessary, and Rees Scruggs; stepdaughter Karen Pruitt and husband Russell; stepson David Herriage and wife Sandy; grandchildren Becky Dovidas and husband Chris, Michelle Kilburn and husband Dane, Amanda McCain and husband Cody, Aaron and wife Ruqaiyah, and Rees II; great-grandchildren Cade, Gracyn, Kelton, Quentin, Brae, Lily, Zack, Ivy, Holly and Asher.
