Lillian "Denny" Carruthers, of Bedford, Texas, died on Monday, May 14, 2018 at the age of 90. She was born in Midland, Texas on April 2, 1928 to William Ernest and Erin Lillian (Hallman) Robertson. She is preceded in death by two husbands, J. C. Carruthers and Joe Whirley; son, Jim Carruthers, Sr.; and three siblings. Survivors include daughters, Erin Gregory, Elsie Holland and Carol Hobbs, all of Bedford; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. Lillian was a long-time member of Irving Baptist Fellowship. She served her family and church selflessly as a church secretary and bookkeeper as well as a choir member. She cherished her memories of traveling to Brazil on a Mission Trip. She played basketball as a teenager and later became a "mall-walker". Lillian also enjoyed knitting and crochet. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 18th at noon in the Chapel at Donnellys Colonial Funeral Home, 606 West Airport Freeway, Irving, TX 75062. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 with Pastor John "Iver" Chester officiating. She will be buried at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens, 1413 East Irving Boulevard following the funeral service.
