LETHA JAYNE SIMONS, age 77, a resident of Irving for 45 years, died Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at an Irving assisted living center. Born June 29, 1933 in Lecompte, Louisiana, she was the daughter of Walter E. Shull and Ruby Gann Shull. An accomplished artist, Jayne was a member of the Hill Country and Irving Art Guilds. She was also a member of the American Business Womens Association, Eastern Star and Plymouth Park Baptist Church in Irving. Preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Speedy Simons in 2000, she is survived by her daughter, Marsha Ancona and husband Lee of Aledo; daughter, Lisa Davis and husband Lynn of Sunnyvale; grandchildren, Allison Brubaker and husband Elliot, Lauren Grant and husband John, Molly Ancona, Matthew Davis and Tyler Davis; great grandchild, Frances Grant; brother, Joe Guffey and wife Pam. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home. Funeral Service will be held 9:30 a.m., Friday, July 1 at Donnellys Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Johnny Denson officiating followed by a burial service at 11:30 a.m. at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association.
