Lee Farish, 89, a resident of Irving for seventy years, went home to be with the Lord early Monday morning, May 31, 2021 at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. Born Marvin Lee Farish June 5, 1931 in Lockney, Texas, he was the son of the late Walter Lloyd and Bonnie Belle Morton Farish. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior in 1941 at Arcadia Baptist Church in Dallas.
Lee was very active in his early years. He was a boy scout, collected stamps, played the French horn in high school, and had a newspaper route, among other hobbies. He had a Duroc Jersey pig named Miss Mischief, who was the grand champion at the 1947 Texas State Fair.
He graduated from Grand Prairie High School in 1949. He earned an associates degree in industrial electrical engineering from Arlington State College (now University of Texas at Arlington). He began his career working for the Civil Aeronautics Administration (now Federal Aviation Administration) in Kodiak, Alaska. He left Alaska to serve in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954. Afterward, he spent multiple years at IBM, then branched out as an entrepreneur in computer engineering working with mainframe computers. Eventually he owned and operated Lee Farish Computer Services for over thirty years.
He joined First Baptist Church of Irving in 1954. He married the love of his life Shirley Ruth Hallum on November 26, 1955. He served faithfully many decades as a Deacon of First Baptist Irving. He was a servant leader. His greatest joys were serving Christ, being married to Shirley, and spending time with dear family and friends. He was among the finest of men. He was a faithful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, serving Christ faithfully, and being a wonderful example to all those around him.
Survivors include his wife Shirley Ruth Farish of Irving; children Steve and Karen Farish of Carrollton, Phil and Nancy Farish of Richardson, and Ben and Sharla Evans of Bridgeport, Texas; a brother Billy Buck and Mary Sue Farish of Irving; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and sister-in-law Jeanette Hallum of Killeen, Texas.
