Lzaro Zapata, 96, a resident of Irving for 25 years, died Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Baylor, Scott, and White Medical Center in Irving. Born December 13, 1923, he was the son of the late Napolen Zapata and Manuela Trevio Zapata. He married Mara Jorge June 9, 1948 in Cloete, Coahuila, Mexico. He was a retired machinist and member of St. Lukes Catholic Church. Preceded in death by a son Esteban, and his wife Mara Jorge, he is survived by his children, Sergio Zapata, Mara del Socorro Gonzlez, Bertha Garca, Lzaro Zapata, Jr. and Mara de los Angeles Zapata-Leiva; fifteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. The family will receive friends 6:00 p.m 9:00 p.m. Monday, December 14, 2020 at Donnellys Colonial Funeral Home, 606 West Airport Freeway in Irving. A Rosary will be celebrated at 7:00 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel with Deacon Ricardo Riojas presiding. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at St. Lukes Catholic Church, 204 South MacArthur Blvd. Father Richard Bezzegato will be the celebrant. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens, 1413 East Irving Blvd. in Irving.
