LaVerne T. Fullen, age 89, a resident of Irving, died Monday, January 7, 2013 at Avalon Residential Care in Irving. Born September 15, 1923 in Montevideo, Minnesota, she was the daughter of Alex Thulin and Myrtle Fossum Thulin. LaVerne was a member of Saint Lukes Catholic Church in Irving since 1963. At Irving Community Hospital, she was a charter member of the Volunteer Association, which included volunteer work in Medical Records. Preceded in death by her husband, Thomas J. Fullen, son, Shawn T. Fullen, brother, John Thulin and sister, Irene Cunningham, she is survived by her daughter, Randee S. Shumate and husband Colin of Dallas; and granddaughter, Michelle Tilghman of Fort Worth, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 10 at Saint Lukes Catholic Church, 204 South MacArthur Blvd. in Irving with Rev. Richard Bezzegato as celebrant. Entombment will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Irving. The family wishes to thank Avalon Alzheimers Residential Home of Irving for their loving care.
