Larry Cogburn, 82, of Irving, died on Thursday, May 31, 2018. He was born on February 7, 1936 in Weatherford, Texas to G. W. and Margarite (Ratts) Cogburn. Larry was more than "handy"; with his skilled hands, he could fix anything. He could look at a project and know just how to do it. Larry loved his family, animals, music (especially 1950s rock), dancing to country and western music, and was an avid Bridge player (he was part of a senior mens Bridge group for 15 years). He loved being outdoors and camping. He and wife, Nancy, won the Showmanship Award in a state championship Chili Cookoff in Terlingua, Texas in 1984. Larry enjoyed life and having fun everywhere he went. He is preceded in death by his parents and one grandchild. Left to cherish his memory are: wife, Nancy (Drake) Cogburn; children, Robert "Bob" Cogburn and wife Belinda of Plano, Lisa Burandt and husband Jeff of Prosper, Valarie Araujo and husband Anthony of The Colony; step children, Julie Stanley and husband David of Abilene and Chris Stark and wife Laura of Raleigh, North Carolina; grandchildren: Ashley and Jonathan Patrick, Lauren Burandt, Alyssa, Sarah Beth and Bryce Araujo; and great-grandson, Dash Patrick; three step-granddaughters and their husbands: Cara and Drew Motl, Abby and Will Atchley and Claire Stark. He is also survived by sister, Vivian Hand of San Antonio; several nieces and nephews; and cousin, Prissy Neely and husband Leo of Weatherford.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 4, at Airport Freeway Church of Christ, 210 Airport Freeway, Euless, Texas 76039. Larry Nunley will officiate.
