Kathleen Kathy
Warren
Aug 25, 1944 — Jun 26, 2026
It is with deep sorrow and loving remembrance that we announce the passing of Kathleen "Kathy" Warren, age 81, formerly of Irving, Texas. She passed away peacefully on Friday, June 26, 2026, at Texas Health Huguley in Burleson, Texas.
Kathy was born Kathleen Hendry on August 25, 1944, in Bay Springs, Mississippi, the fifth of six daughters born to O. V. and Catherine Hendry. She grew up on her family's 75-acre catfish farm, where she helped tend the garden and learned the value of hard work and family. Kathy enjoyed school and remained an avid reader throughout her life.
Around the age of 13, Kathy accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at Sylvarena Baptist Church, where she was later baptized. Around that same time, she attended a birthday party and met a young boy named Earl Warren. Although they attended different high schools and did not begin dating until later, that chance meeting marked the beginning of a lifelong love story.
Kathy married Earl Warren on June 16, 1962, in the very church where she had accepted Christ. Their marriage became a lasting example of faithfulness and devotion to family. On June 16, while Kathy was in the hospital, they celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary together.
Kathy dedicated 20 years of service to Irving Independent School District, working at Thomas Haley Elementary School, MacArthur High School, and the Irving ISD Administration Building. She was an active member of her churches throughout her life and, in recent years, faithfully volunteered at Texas Health Hospital in Cleburne.
Eric and Sheree remembers her with these loving words:
"Mom loved Dad and her family immensely. She enjoyed growing flowers, growing grandkids, reading, cooking, photography, decorating for Christmas, watching scary movies with her grandkids, listening to John Denver, Neil Diamond, The Eagles, and Simon & Garfunkel, and traveling to experience the beauty of the United States. But above all, she loved and was most proud of her family."
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, O. V. Hendry and Catherine Shoemaker Hendry; her son, David Warren; and her five sisters.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her beloved husband of 64 years, Earl Warren; her son, Eric Warren and his wife, Joanna; her daughter, Sheree Brumbaugh and her husband, Tyson; her six grandchildren, Megan, Kristin, Cody, Lauren, Kinsey, and Madison, along with their spouses; and eight treasured great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at Colonial Funeral Home of Irving Chapel, 606 W. Airport Freeway, Irving, Texas. Family and friends are invited to visit with the family from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Kathy will be laid to rest at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Irving at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial donations be made to the American Red Cross, Kathy's chosen charity.
