Juanita Cortez Atkinson, 75, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 9, 2021, surrounded by her family. She is now at peace, fully whole and rejoicing with our Lord and Savior. Juanita was born September 25, 1946, in Rio Hondo, Texas. Juanita was a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother! Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, Gregorio & Genoveva Cortez, her siblings, Rosa Martinez, Gregorio Cortez Jr., Ignacio Cortez, and Francisco Carmona Cortez. Survivors include her husband Leonel Atkinson; her daughter Judy Atkinson Gonzalez and her husband Rolando Gonzalez; her son Leonel Atkinson Jr. and his wife Flor Atkinson; her son LeRoy Atkinson and his wife Jessica Atkinson; her grandchildren Angel, Tristen, Solana, Juliana, LeeRoy, her brother Pedro Cortez, along with numerous other nieces & nephews! Juanita was a woman of great faith, a beautiful, loving, selfless, and nurturing soul. Our loss is truly Heavens gain! A visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday Nov. 16th at Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral services 11:00 AM Wednesday, Nov. 17th at Heritage Church in Irving.501 S.
