JOYCE McABEE, age 80, a resident of Dallas for 60 years, died Monday, August 22, 2011 at Emeritus of Irving. Born September 30, 1930 in Marlin, Texas, she was the daughter of Otto and Anna Carter Patzke. On June 22, 1951, she married Wayne McAbee in Calvert, Texas. Joyce was a bookkeeper at Texas Methodist United Methodist Reporter for 30 years. She was a member of Irwindell United Methodist Church in Oak Cliff, Eastern Star, United Methodist Women, and a member of Womens Auxiliary at Methodist Hospital in Oak Cliff. Preceded in death by her husband in 1997, survivors include her son, David McAbee and wife Kim of Irving; grandchild, Kiley McAbee; sister, Kathryn Head of Arlington; nephew, Robert Head; nieces, Carol DeMatteo and husband Eddie, Susan Zeff and husband Joel, Pamela Fee and husband John, Gail Leslie and Lisa Leslie. The family will receive friends from 6 8 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home. Service is 10 a.m., Friday, August 26, 2011 at Donnellys Colonial Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside service 2:30 p.m., Friday at Powers Chapel Cemetery in Falls County, Texas. Memorial contributions may be made to Masonic Home and School of Texas in Fort Worth, TX.
