Joseph Karimpeneth Rajan (Rajchan) was born on June 1st, 1947 in Pulikezhu, Thiruvilla, Kerala, India to the Late Karimpeneth Varkey Joseph and Achamma Joseph. On April 22, 1971, he married Eliamma Rajan (Ammini) at the young age of 23. Soon after, he left for the U.S. to study computer technology in New York after graduating from The Polytech Institute in M.P., India. His wife joined him the following year to pursue their new life together and made the hard decision to leave their son, Suresh, with his parents until they could settle in and provide. The family was reunited in April 1974. They expanded their family with the birth of their two sons, Sunil and Samson (Sanjay) in the U.S..
When Joseph was a baby, approximately 8 months old, he had polio. While this could have at that time severely affected his lifestyle, having had some residual affect to his leg, he rose to the challenge never allowing that to define his life or restrict the way he lived. In fact, he would travel to many places in his life and accomplish many things, spending hours on his feet. This is also a testament to the strong family support he had with his siblings and parents who saw him for the capable young man that he was.
When he came to the U.S., he became a Machinist Operator in NY, working on many of the cutting edge technology of the day and that interest continued throughout his life. In 1981, he began to work for a travel agency in Dallas and his passion for travel began a rewarding career and gave the opportunity to show his family many new places. As the first Indian owned Travel Agency in DFW, Raj Travels and Tours became a household name for the Indian community. Throughout his career both in NY and in Dallas, he earned numerous awards from various organizations for his accomplishments.
Joseph enjoyed living in both New York and Dallas where he established lifelong relationships. Joseph and Eliamma returned to Dallas in 2004, where they remained in Grand Prairie. He was known by many for his laugh, smile and big heart. He loved music and loved to sing. He would for many years help lead in worship songs at church and various events. Through his voice, he helped touch many hearts. Joseph also had a great ability to organize events and encourage people to action for Gods work. His leadership qualities were displayed in many roles with PCNAK, PYCD and served as an integral part of IPC Ebenezer Full Gospel. He was also a visionary, starting TRAC music ministry in Dallas, starting the Friends of Thiruvilla and initiated the Bless America meetings in NY and throughout the U.S. after 9/11 through fasting and public meetings, where many people were saved. He also worked endlessly to organize and bring many well known servants of God to the U.S. As founders of Vision in Action ministries, Joseph and Eliamma also sponsored and supported churches and other charity work.
We can truly say that Joseph tried his best and fought his hardest to get well to extend his presence with us, but God gave him complete healing in his own divine way. Joseph is survived by a large family who is grieving for their loss but can stand firm in faith and hope knowing that they will see him again one day.
He is survived by his devoted wife, who took care of him till the very end, Eliamma Rajan, his three sons, Suresh (Teena), Sunil (Blessy) and Samson (Nancy), his six grandchildren, Julia Elizabeth, Matthew K., William K., James K., Liam K., and Olivia Lilly. He is also survived by his 4 siblings: Grace Oommen (Pastor Joy P.), Susy Jacob (Joykutty), Joseprakash K. Joseph (Grace) and Sajini Prasad Mathews (Late Prasad). He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and relatives that have very fond memories of their Cakoo, uncle, beloved Rajchan. Joseph, our Papa, will be deeply missed.
