JOSEPH IRVING COHEN. After a heroic battle with cancer, Joe will be laid to rest at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Words cannot describe how much he will truly be missed, but he will remain in our hearts forever. He was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to Harry Philip Cohen and Micheline Chochu Cohen. At age eleven he and his family moved to Colorado. In 1966 he was a member of the first graduating class of Arapaho High School in Littleton, Colorado. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1969 1973 and was stationed on lighthouses in Katchacan, Alaska, in the Aleutian Islands and in Duluth, Minnesota. He graduated from The University of Colorado in 1976 with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Invertebrate Zoology and was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. In 1979 he moved to Dallas, where he met his future wife, Dabney. They were married in 1982, and in 1986 they were blessed with their daughter, Helna, and in 1988 with their son, Harrison, both of whom have made their parents very proud. In 1991 Joe began working for Sears Termite & Pest Service, and in 1997 he started his own business, Joes Termite and Pest Service. His love of museums and history has passed on to his children, and he was a proud Oklahoma Sooner dad. He retired in 2011 after being diagnosed with cancer. Joe was preceded in death by his father, Harry, sister, Helen Sundberg, and father-in-law, Paul Fulkerson. He is survived by his wife, Dabney Cohen of Irving; daughter, Helna Cohen Lucas and husband Edwin of Norman, Oklahoma; and son, Harrison Cohen and his girlfriend, Ashley Roy, both of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; mother-in-law, Patsy Fulkerson of Hurst; brothers-in-law David Fulkerson of Hurst and Robert Fulkerson and wife Geri of Watauga; numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and longtime customers. The family extends thanks and appreciation for all the prayers and well wishes from Joes longtime customers. Joe will be laid to rest at 2:15 p.m., Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Lane B. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Cancer Society or M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.
