Obituary

Joella Shayne Niskar's sweet soul left this world on September 10th, 2016 at the age of 16 years old. Joella, aka, Joey, Jo-Jo, and Little Monkey, was born in Dallas, Texas on November 8th, 1999. Early on Joella baffled the medical world with her complicated and complex illness. Her doctors throughout her life always said she was a medical mystery. When she was a toddler her life expectancy was 7 years of age but Joella proved all of them wrong. Joey's life was not an easy life for a child. Many of her days consisted of hospital stays, multitudes of doctors and nurses, never- ending tests, tubes, monitors, and medications. Joey had an amazing support system of doctors, nurses, therapists, paramedics and firefighters who worked with all the knowledge they had to make her life as pain free as possible. With much credit to these people who loved Joey dearly, it was her mother April, and her big sister Auri, who fought tirelessly for her and spent endless hours shaping her life by never giving up on her. Joeys mom and big sister fought fiercely with grit and faith to ensure she was healthy, happy and had all of her days filled with kisses, giggles, and music. Joey usually had a song to play for you and a huge smile on her face, that is, unless you touched her hair. Anyone who has ever reached down to sweetly caress her head found out quickly, you dont mess with the hair. Even though she had her day to day struggles with life, she was happy being surrounded by all her favorite things. She had her lullaby singing babies, her laughing babies and her not so appropriate, musical making babies. Joey also spent many hours strumming and plucking her guitar with her fingers and often times her toes. She loved playing her keyboard and would often change the volume back to her preferred sound when someone turned it down to a level she didn't approve of. Like all typical teenagers, she had her iphone glued to her ear listening to her favorite playlist. Joey also loved to have her hands and feet massaged. You better be ready to pull up a chair and stay a while because once you started you were not allowed to stop until she was ready. And, if you tried to stop she would hold her hand or foot in the air until you resumed your duty. There just will never be another Joella. Her beautiful smile and sweet spirit will never be forgotten. Every person who had the pleasure to meet this special angel has been deeply touched by her beautiful soul and will cherish her memory forever.
