JOE D. CONNER, age 71, a resident of Irving since 1947, died Monday, September 20, 2010 at Baylor Medical Center in Irving. Born December 20, 1938 in Caledonia, Mississippi, he was the son of Walter Lafayette Conner and Mildred Boyd Conner. He served in the U. S. Coast Guard from 1957 until 1959 and in the Reserves until 1963. He married Nancy Darrell June 30, 1961 in Irving. A member of First Presbyterian Church in Irving, he was in home improvement sales. Preceded in death by his parents and a brother Gerald Crandall, survivors include his wife Nancy of Irving; son, Len Michael Conner and wife Nikisha of Irving; two grandchildren, Kylie Conner and Joseph Gregory Kaden Conner; brother, Walter B. Conner of Kerrville; sisters, Gloria Ivy of Irving and Carol Camp of Dallas; several nieces and nephews including Micah Cyd Womack, Connie Preston, Coydette Preston, Darah Bishop, Ali Womack, Matt Womack, Karen Lynn Conner and Brian Conner. The family will receive friends 6:00 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Donnelly's Colonial Funeral Home, 606 West Airport Freeway in Irving. The funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday at Oak View Baptist Church, 1004 South Story in Irving. Burial will be at the Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery.
