Joe Ila Livingston Cates, 81, of Carrollton, TX passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on July 26, 2016 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Joe Ila was born on August 19, 1934 in Dallas, Texas to Weldon and Marion Livingston. She married Charles E. Cates in 1953 and had three wonderful children. She worked a long career at PepsiCo, retiring in 1991. Most of all, she loved her role as mom, Granny, and Nanny to her large family. A whiz on the piano, her happiest moments were spent singing hymns and praise music, gardening, and visiting with loved ones. Joe Ila was preceded in death by her parents, Weldon and Marion Livingston. She is survived by her husband, Charles Edward Cates of Carrollton, brother Gerald Livingston, brother Bert Kennedy, son Allen Edward and wife Shirley of Flower Mound, son Michael Paul and wife Rhonda of Irving, daughter Sandra Lois Prosen and husband Robert of Lewisville, 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and countless cousins and extended family. The family received visitors on Thursday, July 28, 2016 from at Donnellys Colonial Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services were held on Friday, July 29th also in the funeral home Chapel. Chaplain Blane Brazier officiated. Joe Ila is buried at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Dallas.
